reLEAF’s achievements so far…

Since spring 2020, reLeaf — a tree and hedge-planting project by Zero Carbon Haddenham and Haddenham Parish Council — has brought together volunteers to plant new trees and hedging plants across Haddenham. Together, we’re creating new wildlife corridors, greening our streets and parks, and taking important steps towards Haddenham’s goal of becoming Carbon Neutral by 2030. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far:

  • 230 + trees planted
  • 1 500 + hedging plants installed
  • 25 street trees added in partnership with Bucks council

Here are some of our planting highlights:

Sheerstock mini-orchard (March 2020)

Volunteers plant the first trees in our Sheerstock mini-Orchard

What we planted: 4 apple trees and 1 hazel tree
Why it matters: This was our very first planting. Today, these trees blossom every spring, creating a lovely space for people and pollinators alike.

Footpath to the Grove (2022)

What we planted: 50 mixed hedging plants along the footpath from Churchway to The Grove

Why it matters: This “living fence” provides food and shelter for insects and birds — and makes everyday walks greener and more enjoyable for residents.

Tibbs Road (2022-2023)

reLEAF’s largest project to date has been to plant an extensive number of trees and hedging over a large area around the new sports field at Tibbs Road (just behind the COOP). It includes a large orchard in the Eastern corner of the field and an avenue of flowering cherries running alongside the footpath to the north of the sports field.

What we planted: 115 trees (cherry, fruit, walnut, horse chestnut, and silver birch) and 1,450 hedging plants (roses, cherries, hawthorn, and blackthorn)

Why it matters: These trees and hedges wrap around the new sports field, creating a green barrier to soften strong winds and offer homes for wildlife.

Other planting sites include Woodways Park, land by Spitfire Park, Longwall and Street Trees at road junctions across Haddenham.

We’ve made a great start, but there’s so much more we can do — and we need your help! If you would like to help reLEAF Haddenham please contact releaf@nullzeroch.org or use this form to volunteer. Whether you can plant, care, or simply spread the word, every helping hand makes a difference.
